When it comes to family fun, it’s hard to beat the Fairfax Fall Festival

Saturday, Oct. 13th from 10 to 5 (bands play until 8 p.m.), and is jam-packed with all kinds of entertainment. And it’s free!

The City of Fairfax is buzzing in anticipation for this weekend’s 42nd Annual Fall Festival!  More than 400 vendors will line both sides of Main Street, University Drive and Sager Avenue. Each year, the festival draws people from throughout Northern Virginia, so the downtown City of Fairfax streets will be closed to traffic during the event.

“Every year we have an awesome time at the Fall Festival!” says Fairfax native and realtor, Jennifer Mack.  “The vendors are really great and the kids love the entertainment. The Beer garden and food court are an added bonus! We love the small town feel that our community has and we love participating in the events.”

Event Highlights

There’s no entrance cost to attend the Fall Festival, but there’ll be fees for certain rides and children’s activities. Amusement rides run until 8 p.m. in the SunTrust Bank parking lot. Additional children’s activities will be held in the parking lot next to the Old Fire Station No. 3 restaurant at 3988 University Drive. The festival features a business expo so residents may see the many goods and services available to them locally.

The Fairfax Volunteer Fire Department presents Sparky’s Harvest Bash at Fire Station 3 (4081 University Drive) an open house to promote part of national Fire Prevention Week. Children may meet their local firefighters and EMTs and even climb up inside a fire engine.

If you haven’t yet experienced Lumberjack Enterprises’ Lumberjack Show and Interactive Camp, you’re missing out on some big fun! Sponsored by JL Tree Service, professional lumberjacks compete in 11 different events throughout the day while festival-goers cheer them on. According to Lumberjack Enterprises, attendees will be able to see mad skills by lumberjacks wielding everything from axes to modified racing chainsaws to cross-cut saws. There’ll even be water events and audience participation.
