This past week I attended the ribbon cutting ceremony of the first nano brewery in Fairfax, Chubby Squirrel Brewing Company. Elected officials including the mayor and several city council members, along with Economic Development Officers from the City of Fairfax were on hand to participate in this exciting event.
The brewery is located in Courthouse shopping center adjacent to Safeway. It is a small but comfortable space with some outdoor tables as well. They serve some great food on a rotating menu, including delicious pierogies of all different varieties. Last week they had lobster rolls which were very well received. The schnitzel sliders were quite delicious as well.
My favorite beers at Chubby Squirrel are the Hefeweizen and the Pumpkin Eater. They usually have about 6 beers on tap to try and sampler trays are available.
The folks at Chubby Squirrel are really nice and welcoming and happy to educate you on the different beers if you aren’t sure what you want to try. Plan a trip over soon and sit and relax a while! Check them out on Facebook for updates on events and new beers.
